Jesus Revolution

When our desperation for Jesus exceeds the world’s desperation and searching- He will Hear, Forgive, and Heal. In this message, Pastor Jen DeWeerdt concludes our series “At The Movies” with scenes from the hit movie “Jesus Revolution.”

Notes 📓✏️:

A Jesus Revolution is a period of time characterized by largescale, widespread revival, where the supernatural moving of the Spirit of God produces an intense hunger for Jesus in both believers and those far from faith.

RENEWAL: When God touches the heart of a single individual believer.

REVIVAL: When God touches a community of faith.

AWAKENING: When the wider society is impacted.

RENEWAL: An instance of resuming an activity or state after an interruption. The replacement or repair of something that is worn out, run-down, or broken.

A renewal is nothing else than a new beginning of obedience to God. Just as in the case of a converted sinner, the first step is a deep repentance, a breaking down of heart, a getting down into the dust before God, with deep humility, and a forsaking of sin.

2 Chronicles 7:14 (ESV) If My people who are called by My name humble themselves, and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, THEN I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

We all want to; Hear, Forgive, Heal

FIRST, we must; Humble, Pray, Seek, Turn

Is there an area you need spiritual renewal? (Humble, Pray, Seek, Turn)

When our desperation for Jesus exceeds the world’s desperation and searching – He will Hear, Forgive, HEAL.

Revival: When God touches a community of faith.

Luke 19:10 (ESV) For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.

What would happen if we washed feet instead of pointing fingers?

Luke 15:1,2 (ESV) Now the tax collectors and sinners were all drawing near to hear Him. And the Pharisees and the scribes grumbled, saying, “This man receives sinners and eats with them.”

Who are you sitting with?

Who are you dining with?

AWAKENING: When the wider society is impacted.

Charles Finney said this about awakening…

When the churches are thus renewed and revived, the awakening and salvation of sinners will follow. Their hearts will be broken down and changed. Very often the most abandoned sinners are among the subjects. Harlots, and drunkards, and infidels, and all sorts of abandoned characters, are awakened and converted. The worst of human beings are softened and reclaimed, and made to appear as lovely specimens of the beauty of holiness.
