God did not give us the spirit of fear…but what if He is able to use fear for our good?

Say- to speak, affirm, direct, to call by name

Saying- the way our words reveal our hearts.

Worry and fear cause us to call ourselves by false identities.

  • I am unlovable.
  • I am only accepted if I perform well.
  • I am weak.
  • I am sick/unhealthy.
  • I am a failure.
  • I am worthless.
  • I am not enough.
  • I am only loved if I earn it.
  • I am going to control everything so I can feel safe.

Every “I am” statement is an identity statement.

Fear always arises when we are living from a false identity.

Fear is a warning light to signal a false identity built on lies we’ve believed about ourselves, God, or others.

Jesus didn’t come just to forgive your sins; He came to give you back your true identity.

God wants to deal with your fear before everything else.

Once the fear is gone, the real you can engage God.

You can’t create your identity—you can only receive it.

Your true identity isn’t something you achieve; it’s something you receive.

Get empty of fear so your true identity can become clear.

You can’t operate in your true identity until there’s room for it.

Identify your greatest fear.

God is inviting us to come ask Him about our fear.

“What is the lie I believe about myself?”

Confess your fear and false belief to Jesus.

Ask God what name He calls you.

The identity exchange
