Alone time is great… for a while. But we weren’t designed to do life alone! We all need a place to belong. Discover how real purpose in life is found within the family of God!
Notes 📓✏️:
Family on Purpose – Pastor Jeremy DeWeerdt
You were created for relationship with God and to worship Him.
Truth: Your purpose is given to you by your Creator!
The quieter it gets around you, the louder fears can get within you.
You were created for community.
“It is not good for man to be alone…” Genesis 2:18
You weren’t meant to do life solo!
You need a place to belong.
God didn’t just save you from something — He saved you into something: His family.
People’s common passion brings them together where they eventually find belonging.
Ephesians 1:5 (NLT): “His unchanging plan has always been to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ.”
God’s family is called: “The Church”
Church Isn’t an Event – It’s a Home
Ephesians 2:19 (ICB): “So now you are no longer visitors or strangers. Now you are citizens together with God’s holy people. You belong to God’s family.”
It is in God’s family (the church) where you discover your true identity.
Reality: Most of your identity is formed through relationships.
What matters most is your SPIRITUAL IDENTITY.
Real Growth Requires Real Relationships
Hebrews 2:11 (CEV): “Jesus and the people he makes holy all belong to the same family. That is why he isn’t ashamed to call them his brothers and sisters.”
Proverbs 27:17 (NLT): “As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.”
There is a me that I can’t see, but others do.
Pity the person who tries to climb the mountain of God alone.
Ecclesiastes 4:12 (Msg): “By yourself you’re unprotected. With a friend you can face the worst. Can you round up a third? A three-stranded rope isn’t easily snapped.”
God’s Family Isn’t Perfect – But It’s Powerful and God’s Only Plan.
You and I need God’s Church
Broken people, built together, become a beautiful thing.
1 Peter 2:5: “You also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house…”
The beauty of the Church isn’t found in flawless people – it’s found in flawed people, faithfully connected in the Name of Jesus.
Don’t just sit in a row, find your role.
Don’t just attend, activate.
Don’t just observe, own it.
Head – You understand the church is your home!
Heart – You are willing to be heart and soul!
Hands – You are willing to help!
