James: Day 17

Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” As it is, you boast in your arrogant schemes. All such boasting is evil. If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.
James 4:13-17

QUESTIONS:

  1. What would my life and the life of my family look like if I said, “If it is the Lord’s will, I will do it” today?
  2. What plans is God asking you to lay aside today in order to do His will for your life?

PRAYER:   God, thank you that you care about every detail and every plan in my life. I don’t want my priorities today to take over the assignment that you have for me for tomorrow. I want to open my life to you and the life of my family to you, knowing that you have our future in your hands. Today, I ask for wisdom as I make plans, and I pray that those plans are in alignment with your will. Amen.
