Are you feeling weary from battling the storms of life? Pastor Jeremy draws from the timeless wisdom of Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount to illustrate how we can construct lives that stand resilient against life’s trials.
Notes 📓✏️:
You can’t build something that lasts without giving something that costs.
Matthew 7:24-27 (NLT): “Anyone who listens to My teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock. Though the rain comes in torrents and the floodwaters rise and the winds beat against that house, it won’t collapse because it is built on bedrock. But anyone who hears My teaching and doesn’t obey it is foolish, like a person who builds a house on sand. When the rains and floods come and the winds beat against that house, it will collapse with a mighty crash.”
Listen and Obey
Knowing is half the battle. Doing gives you victory.
The blueprints are the vision put to paper.
Everyone is Building Something with Their Lives
The Foundation
John 14:15 (NLT): “If you love Me, obey My commandments.”
Both builders in Jesus’ story heard His teachings.
James 1:22 (NLT): “But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.”
You can start today.
Storms Don’t Discriminate
The storm does not expose your persona; it exposes your foundation.
Faith comes by hearing the Word.
Faith comes by experience.
Past obedience fuels future obedience.
Every act of obedience strengthens my next “yes”
Obedience builds momentum.
Revelation 12:11 (NLT): “And they [Christians] have defeated him [Satan] by the blood of the Lamb [Jesus] and by their testimony.”
What is a testimony? It is the story of how God saved you.
“The Lord who rescued me from the claws of the lion and the bear will rescue me from this Philistine!”
Let’s have a faith that is built to last.
