A note from our Youth Pastors

Every year Summer Camp is the most impactful thing that the youth of our church take part in. Incredible things happen when middle and high school students leave home and their everyday surroundings to set apart 5 days in the summer to pursue Jesus. Something clicks when your environment shifts, it provides opportunity for growth, change, new friendships, new experiences, and most importantly hearing from God.

We have a lot of fun, partying is a core value, and we make sure NO ONE is left out. We sincerely believe in what God is going to do on June 19th – June 23rd and INVITE YOU to come(youth) or send your young person (parents) to Summer Camp 2017.

Encounter God
Worship Experiences

Do you want to experience God in a REAL and tangible way? Do you want to dance so hard you can’t breathe and sing so loud you lose your voice? Do you want to become a better and stronger person? Do you want to break free from some of the things holding you down? Do you want to FEEL the love of Jesus?

Summer Camp Worship Experiences are unlike any other. Every night we gather, we see God do amazing things. Whether it’s through worship, the message, creative storytelling, or a quiet moment at the altar, you will have a chance to encounter God in a FRESH way.

Our nights are specifically designed to blow your mind, get your hands in the air, and pursue God. We party the night away, lifting up the name of Jesus and thanking Him for everything He’s done in our lives. At every experience we use creativity and energy, focused on one central theme from the Bible, to grow closer to God. After a Summer Camp worship experience, your relationship with God will never be the same and there is a very high chance you’ll have confetti in your hair.

Make Memories
Life Groups

At City First Church we believe that CIRCLES are better than ROWS and that NO ONE should do life alone. How we do Summer Camp is NO EXCEPTION! You’ll spend almost every part of your time on Summer Camp 2017 with your LIFE GROUP! Sitting in service, at the beach, your cabin, late nights at the SNACK SHACK, and even the BLOB you’ll be surrounded by some of your best friends and have a chance to make new ones!

Life Groups will meet every morning at camp to TALK and ASK QUESTIONS about who God is and the truth we’ll be diving into at our evening worship experiences! We believe in the VOICES of students and that as a middle or high school student you shouldn’t just be TALKED TO but that you should get a chance to SPEAK.

If you’re not in a YOUTH life group, DON’T WORRY, we have NEW students from across the Stateline Area joining every week. Ask one of your friends you go to YOUTH with about their life group OR click here to Circle Up.

Here is a list of items we highly suggest packing and we kindly ask that there be ONE SUITCASE per person.

  • personal items, soap, toothpaste, and deodorant
  • Spending Money for exclusive Summer Camp apparel and the SNACK SHACK
  • towels, washcloths, pillow, your own bedding
  • Bible and journal
  • modest swimwear, for example a one pieced swimsuit, tankini, or a dark tank top to cover up a two-piece

  • enough clothes for 5 days, plus clothes for Camp Wars (athletic clothing)

What isn’t allowed on Summer Camp?

There are a few things that we do not allow on Summer Camp: weapons (of any kind), drugs, alcohol, headphones, or gaming devices. This is to ensure that all the students are focused, making relationships, and are having the most fun they can using the facilities that are provided to them!

We are not responsible for any broken or lost property and encourage to only bring NECESSARY items.

What activities will students be participating in?

  • Tanning or swimming at the Beach

The team with the most points by the end of the week wins the GLORY of being this year’s CAMP WARS CHAMPIONS!

What’s a typical “message” like?

We generally speak out of the NIV, NLT, or Message Translations of the Bible. The communications will be roughly 35 minutes in length. They will be highly relatable, easy to understand, humorous, and creative.

Once at camp do the students stay at camp?

Yes. Everything we do when it comes to Summer Camp is done on the camp grounds, from our Camp Wars to going to the beach everything we do is located in one central area.

Exiting the camp grounds will result in students being sent home.

What housing accommodations are being provided?

Cabins are provided by the camp grounds for use of the students. Each cabin is air conditioned and has beds for the students to sleep in.

Students are required to bring their own bedding.

How many adults will be at Summer Camp?

On average we have at least 1 adult leader to every 4 students.

Every adult volunteer is a member of our church and has a state filed background check to ensure that we have the best people influencing our students.

We will have close to 100 adult Staff and Volunteers.

What safeguards do you have in place to ensure personal safety of students?

The safety of students is our number one priority. At all times students are required to either have a leader with them or will be in an area being supervised by Spencer Lake Camp Staff members.

Students are not allowed at any time to be going into the cabins of opposite genders, any student caught doing this or caught being alone with a student of the opposite gender will be sent home from camp immediately.

Students are also not allowed to be alone with leaders of the opposite gender and vice versa, this is something we put into practice on a regular basis in both Fuse and Venue.

What is the procedure for sending students home from camp?

We don’t have many years where students have to be sent home.

Here are the guidelines that all students must sign their name and agree to as a part of registration – this allows everyone to stay safe and get the most out of camp.

  1. I understand that weapons, air-soft guns and shaving cream fights are NOT allowed.
  2. I understand I need to respect the people around me, as well as their personal belongings.
  3. I understand I need to abide by the curfew set by leaders every night.
  4. I understand the need for gender-appropriate sleeping arrangements and I will not enter the room of a person of opposite gender.
  5. I understand I need to be in view of a chaperone at all times or have them know where I am at all times.
  6. I understand that I am not allowed to possess or use tobacco, alcohol, or any type of drug at any time during the retreat.

Consequences:
If Guidelines 1-5 are violated, Students will be given one warning, and if it persists, Students will be sent home at the Parents expense.

If Guideline 6 is violated, Students will be immediately sent home at the parent’s expense.

Do you require my child’s insurance info?

Yes. There is a spot on the registration form to leave that information.

Is there an number I can call in case of an emergency?

Yes, you can text the Youth Hotline which goes directly to our staff at 815.205.0400 or call the Spencer Lake Camp phone line at: (715)258-5707 and they will radio our staff immediately.

If I have any other questions about Summer Camp or need to let someone know something about my child (ex. allergies, medications, etc), who should I contact?
