Monthly Focus: Jesus gives me the power to do everything.
Bible Story: Paul and Silas in Prison • Acts 16:16-34
Main Point: When Jesus is your friend, He gives you the power to have joy.
Series Memory Verse: “I can do everything by the power of Christ.” Philippians 4:13, NIrV
This week we will talk about what JOY looks like, and we can’t think of a better story to help us than Paul and Silas worshipping in prison. That was a pretty bad day and yet they choose to sing a joyful song of praise to God! You know Jesus had to give them the power to do that!
When Jesus is your friend, He gives you the power to have joy. From not getting their way, struggling with sharing, or difficulty making friends, kids of all ages struggle with what it means to have joy when life is hard. We can have joy—even when we are in hard times—when we know Jesus. We can help our kids learn how to have a happy heart even when things do go their way.
Put It Into Action:
As you drive, take turns saying, “Jesus gives me the power to [action word].” When you get where you’re going, say together, “Jesus gives me the power to do everything!” Example action words: love, help, run, smile, hug, clean my room, forgive, be joyful, wash dishes, walk my dog, etc.
